Creating and Using a Child-Specific AT Plan
Planning for increased participation using assistive technology (AT) supports should be team-based and collaborative with the family/teacher as primary users at the center. The child’s interests, preferences, strengths and needs begin the process as we examine her participation in daily activities. Challenges are identified and supports that may work best in the context of the activity are considered and a trial plan is made. Various supports and child-specific strategies are tried out; team members observe, modify and recommend best AT solutions. This process is dynamic and changes as the child, her abilities and activities change.
